Booking Terms & Conditions

 

1. Making a booking

Prices per weekly, weekend or mid-week booking are set out in the Prices & Availability Table.  A 20% discount for groups of 4 or less may be available outside school holidays.

2.    Payment

A 25% deposit, or £100, whichever is the greater, is required to confirm the booking.  Reservations will be held for 4 days to give you time to pay the deposit or for 2 days if the start date is less than 6 weeks away.

The balance is due 6 weeks before your Start Date.  If we don’t receive your balance on time, we shall be entitled to treat the booking as cancelled by you.

Please make all payments to be made by cheque to Alison Fawcett, 126 Coningham Road, London  W12 8BY or contact us to arrange payment by bank transfer.

We will send you a booking confirmation with directions and arrival information immediately upon receipt of the deposit.

We are sorry but neither the deposit nor the balance are refundable in the event of a cancellation by you.

3. Arrival & Departure

Weekly bookings: Start day is Friday, Departure day is Friday (7 nights)
Weekend bookings: Start day is Friday, Departure day is Monday (3 nights)
Midweek bookings: Start day is Monday, Departure day is Friday (4 nights)

Arrival time on the Start day is 4pm
Departure time on the Departure day is 10am

Variations may be possible outside school holidays, subject to agreement. Please ask us.

4.  Departure Procedure

Please follow the procedure set out in the Notes for Visitors folder which you will find at the cottage.  This includes stripping the beds and leaving the cottage in the condition in which you found it.  Please report any losses or breakages to us or the housekeeper.

We are always grateful for feedback about your stay, either by email or in the Visitors Book which is kept at the cottage.

5. Keys

When your booking is confirmed, we will send you the housekeeper’s details so that you can arrange collection of the keys with her.

Prior to departure, please arrange with the housekeeper how you will return the keys.

6. Useful information

On arrival, you will find a Welcome Pack which contains:
- important information about the cottage;
-    operation instructions for appliances
-    information and contact details for essential services in the area, such as doctors, hospitals and dentists.
-    leaflets and other information about things to do in the area, places to visit and places to eat;
-    the departure procedure

7. Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.  Please do not leave any cigarette ends in the garden.

8.  Bins & Recycling

Please put the bin and any recycling out by the gate on Tuesday night.  Bin day is early on [WEDNESDAY?? tbc] morning.

There are boxes for sorting recycling materials in the Out-house.  In addition, there are recycling facilities in Minehead (the retail/industrial estate), Dunster (main car park) and Porlock (main car park) – please use these for any uncollected recycling when you leave.

9.  Parking

There is space for 3 cars on the drive in the garden, plus further space on the road opposite the cottage if you require it.

10.  Bedding

All bedding is provided (except for the cot), and the beds will be made up for you, with duvets, prior to your arrival.

If you would like to use the sofa-bed, please let the housekeeper know ahead of your arrival and the bed linen for the sofa bed will be left out for you to make the bed up yourselves.

If you would like to use the cot, playpen, high chair or stair gate please let the house-keeper know and she will put them out for you.  Please note we DO NOT provide bed linen or covers for the cot and you will need to bring your own.

11. Towels

We DO NOT provide towels.  Please remember to bring your own.

12. Electricity

Electricity is included in the price.  There is a defunct meter above the telephone – if you put coins in it by mistake, it is not locked and you can retrieve them.

13.  Heating

Heating is included in the price (apart from fuel for the wood-burners, see below), and is provided as follows:

- modern storage heaters in the sitting room, on the landing and in one of the bedrooms.
- heaters and electric towel rails in the bathrooms.
- sufficient portable electric heaters for all other rooms (these MUST NOT be covered at any time NOR left on when the room is not in use).
- 2 wood-burning stoves in the inglenook fireplaces in each of the dining room and the sitting room.

PLEASE NOTE:  there is no central heating at the cottage.

14.  Wood-burners

We will provide the first barrow-load of logs (apart from in the summer) but after that you will need to EITHER provide your logs or coal OR we can provide further logs for £8 a wheel-barrow load. Please arrange this with the housekeeper.

15.      Telephone

Incoming calls can be received at all times on 01643 841528.

You can make outgoing calls with a BT charge card (please contact BT for information about this).

There is a telephone box in the village, 100m from the cottage, just before the church.

16. Mobile reception

Mobile reception is patchy across Exmoor and varies according to the place and the network.  Vodaphone has very good reception at the cottage.

17.    Internet

Free WiFi is available at the cottage. (Please bring your own computer or other device)

The password is on the back of the router, which is in the entrance hall, by the telephone

18.    The Village Shop & Post Office / Welcome Hamper

The Villagers Stores in Wootton Courtenay is a friendly, well-stocked shop and Post Office.  Please check the shop door for opening times.

We have arranged for the Villagers Stores to deliver a welcome hamper to greet you on your arrival containing tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and some local produce.

The shop will be happy to take and deliver orders ahead of your arrival – please ring Paul or Trish on 01643 841 582
