We had the most wonderful week at Rose Cottage! We immediately relaxed into the peace of the beautiful countryside – the sound of horses clip-clopping past the windows, the morning sunlight  streaming in through the windows, the fresh air and the vivid expanse of the night stars all serve as an immediate antidote to the stresses of a hectic working life. Rose Cottage is truly ‘home from home’ with all the amenities one could ever expect and more. We loved sitting round the wood burning stove in the evening after a hearty meal, drinking a glass of wine and reading the children stories after a day on the beach or walking in the woods. We can’t wait to book  for next Easter. Thank you very much!

We’ve always driven through Somerset on our way to holidaying in Devon and Cornwall – what a shame we’ve missed a wonderful location for so many years. We rented this lovely house for a week and felt at home
straight away.  Our daughter found quiet space to do university work and our teenage son found the settee comfortable enough to operate the TV remote for several hours.  We sat in the afternoon sun in the back garden, relaxed by the fire at night, cooked in the ample kitchen, ate on the huge dining table – it was such a pleasant break from life’s hustle and bustle.
The house is substantial and obviously very old and solid. It sits quietly in a well tended village and there was a warm welcome in the corner shop, which sold excellent local produce. We were also very pleasantly surprised at the superb walking in the area. We discovered ancient sunken roads and tracks through equally ancient woodlands, passed through lovely villages and had huge vistas from the coastal cliff tops and of course from Dunkery Beacon. We found excellent dining in surrounding pubs and inns and we’ll definitely be back again

We find Rose Cottage is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage itself is so homely and welcoming (and I challenge anyone to find more comfortable beds)and Wootton Courtenay is
very picturesque. It is so peaceful and yet only a 10 minute drive from nearby towns of Dunster and Minehead which has a lovely beach. Here we have the best of both worlds.
